Thanks to the enhanced app versions for iPhone and Android, as well as a new map model, smartphone owners can look forward to greater flexibility and regularly updatable map material. A central element of the new concept is the separation of map and app: with “NAVIGON MyMaps” smartphone users have the option to only load the maps onto their app that are needed for their next trip. All other maps can be individually loaded on the smartphone as required. That saves both time when updating the software and storage space on the device. Another innovation means that maps on applications can now also be regularly updated: a map-update option will soon also be available for apps on iOS and Android operating systems. This allows users to download the latest map material for a minimum of two years for a one-off fee. That way the app can be customised according to individual needs. “With our new concept we are adapting our navigation apps precisely to the needs of the user,” says Gerhard Mayr. “They get an onboard navigation solution for their smartphone that is more up to date and more individual than any other to date.”
Similar to the newly introduced NAVIGON Flow navigation software in the PND segment, NAVIGON has also enhanced its smartphone apps with regard to clarity and intuitive operation. The new user interface features a clear structure and allows users to switch easily between the individual menus. Furthermore, particularly in relation to the iPhone, menus and the map can be controlled by advanced multi-touch operation. “Innovative functions only lead to increased comfort when they can be operated intuitively,” says Gerhard Mayr. “With our new app generation we are setting standards in this respect.”
