Som bekant så måste kommande Xbox One ansluta sig till internet minst en gång om dagen för att du ska kunna spela på den, vilket även alltså gäller spel som inte i sig behöver internet för att kunna spelas. Kontentan är att om du inte har möjlighet att koppla upp den kan du inte ens spela Tetris.
Gametrailers fick en pratstund med Don Mattrick, som har jobbtiteln president of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business, och frågade just om hur Microsoft ser på att Xbox One måste kopplas upp mot nätet med jämna mellanrum. Mattrick hade en alldeles utmärkt (dum) lösning på problemet: man köper då helt enkelt en Xbox 360 istället. Microsoft har då tänkt på allt.
Some of the advantages that you get, of having, a box that is designed to use an online state, so, that, uh, to me is the future-proof choice, and I think people, could’ve arguably gone the other way if we didn’t do it and fortunately we have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity, it’s called Xbox 360.
När Gametrailers intervjuare Geoff Keighley pressade Mattrick ytterligare, för att se om detta verkligen var Microsofts officiella ståndpunkt, fick han nedanstående svar:
Well, if you have zero access to the internet, that is an offline device, I mean, seriously, when I read the blogs, and thought about who’s really the most impacted, there was a person who said ‘hey, I’m on a nuclear sub,’ and I don’t even know what it means to be on a nuclear sub but I’ve gotta imagine it’s not easy to get an internet connection.
Verkar helt enkelt vara så att Microsoft rekommenderar Xbox 360 om du tillhör flottan.
